For The Nations Mission Trip

For The Nations offers a wide variety of educational programs to help refugees continue in the long process of adapting to life in the United States. They help families adjust to life in America by advocating for them, teaching them English, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Refugees are people living outside their country of origin who cannot return to their home due to fear of persecution based on race, religion, ethnic group, or membership in a particular social or political group. Texas receives approx. 4,500 refugees every year.

Children’s Reading Program:
We will be helping with a reading program for children, to help them improve their English and reading skills, and we will share the gospel with them.
Swim Lessons:
Because most refugees do not know how to swim, yet most of them live at apartments with pools, it is important to teach children how to swim. We will be leading some swim lessons.
Other things:
There are some other ministry and fun things we are working on for the week.

We can only take 15-18 students on this trip. So, due to the limited number of people we can take, there is an application form that needs to be filled out. We will take them on a first come, first serve basis. Make sure you turn the application in quickly.

You can pick up an application at the church, or download one HERE. (updated 01/17/2016)

Application forms need to be turned in by February 21, 2016. […]

Winter Blast 2016

Winter Blast is our Jr. High winter retreat. It will be held at Hidden Acres Christian Center on February 5-7, 2016. The cost is $85 for a weekend that you do not want to miss!

The weekend is filled with lots of fun, an awesome speaker and great worship. There will be times to go swimming, tobogganing, and hang out and have fun. This is always a highlight of the year!

The theme for Winter Blast this year is Young & Wise: Right choices. Right now.
You must make decisions every day. Even if you want to make the right choice It can be difficult to know what to choose! There are lots of influences that can lead us away from the path God created us to live. But just because you’re young doesn’t mean you can’t make wise choices now. Join us at Winter Blast as we learn how to live wisely by following Jesus.

Our speaker will be Damian Peasley and Andy Johnson will be leading worship. It’s going to be great!

On January 3rd, from 6-8PM, we will be having an informal time of fun and games (dodgeball) with both the high school and jr. high groups combined. The best part is that we are inviting all those who have graduated from the youth group since D & Jill have been here to join us for the fun.

So, if you are a graduate, we want you to come. If you have a spouse, bring them! If you have kids, bring them! If you have friends in town with you, bring them! If you know a graduate of the youth ministry, make sure they come! Spread the word!

It will be a great time of catching up with old friends, a chance to blow off some steam after finals, and hot chocolate! Plus, it will be a great chance to see what God has done over the years. So, be there!

P.S. We know you might be old, so you don’t have to play dodgeball. We know you can’t keep up any more.

Christmas Party

For our Christmas Party this year, we will be combining both the jr. high and high school groups for one big fun filled extravaganza! The party will be from 6:00-7:30pm on December 20th at the church. Come dressed to celebrate Christmas. It could be an ugly sweater, I could be a red and green sweatsuit, or you could come dressed as a Christmas character. Oh, and come ready to have fun. There will be food, games, we’ll even have the Photo Booth set up! See you there!
If you have questions, please contact Pastor D.

We are asking that everyone bring $1 to go towards helping the African students we support!
